This month’s featured site is the Geriatrics and Gerontology Web Page, hosted by the Arizona Health Sciences Library at the University of Arizona with support from the Donald W. Reynolds Foundation and the Arizona Geriatric Education Center. This continuously updated website features the most recent evidence-based articles and other resources addressing major geriatric syndromes such as frailty, deconditioning and incontinence. “PubMed Alerts” – pre-formulated and automatically updated searches on key aspects of these syndromes are provided. The website also contains information on broader topics such as aging demographics, health literacy, clinical trials recruiting older patients, consumer resources, and professional associations.

Spotlight on Interlibrary Loan
Two years ago the four health sciences colleges asked the library to remove the fees that we charged for Interlibrary Loan. A plan was put into place, procedures were changed in the department and several bookkeeping changes were made. The first year was difficult financially, but the ILL budget is now balanced. Kathy, Jennifer and Laura have all contributed to making the ILL operation as efficient as possible. Last year ILL borrowed 4,214 items for our users and supplied 2,802 copies via document delivery. We also supplied 11,548 articles and books to other libraries. If you do the math you’ll see that the ILL staff is very busy! Thanks to Kathy, Jennifer, Laura and their student workers for providing this service to our users and to those at other libraries.
