CatCard Access to the AHSL
Our new hours are presenting many complications to various policies and procedures. We are taking our best shot at figuring out who can use their CatCard to enter the building and when. Most of you will use your cards for access just as you have in the past, during our regular hours. Some people will have 24/7 access in case of emergencies. If you have questions or concerns about what your card will allow, please check with Linda.

Soon, we hope next week, ANY CatCard will open the outside door at the top of the steps on the south side of the library, between 9:30 PM and 1:00 AM Sunday through Thursdays. Between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM Sun-Thu and 6 PM – 6 AM Fri-Sat, the door will open only to CatCards from librarians, certain Systems staff, and some Desk staff and students. Anyone can go OUT that door at any time.

Access through the “back door” on the first floor, near the lockers will be during our open hours only but will extend to 6:30 PM on Fridays to allow CTS and Desk staff and students to exit after the front entrance gate is closed. Some Desk staff and students will have early access (5:30 AM) so that they can come in to open the library. All librarians, certain Systems staff, certain COM IT folks, Research Office staff and Telemedicine staff will have 24/7 access through this door.

As I mentioned in the update on May 31, we do not want anyone in the building when we are closed unless it is an emergency situation or is approved in advance. This is for your safety and library security.
