Furloughs, HR, Stairway work

Furloughs
I have no additional information on furloughs in the coming fiscal year (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010) beyond what you have seen in the memo from the President and Provost
( http://president.arizona.edu/prescomm_more.cfm?f_ID=97 ) which stated that all employees on state funding will be required to take five furlough days during the year. I’ll pass along any other information as soon as I receive it.

University support
On behalf of LSA, David Howse contacted Human Resources to see if they could present a session for library staff on layoff procedures, policies and support. HR will not be doing group information sessions relating to how staff might prepare for potential layoffs, or better understand HR policies during this economic crisis. They will, however, be available for individual appointments to answer questions and discuss issues unique to any staff member. If you have questions or concerns you can call HR for an appointment at 626-2600. HR is located off the main College of Medicine Lobby, the last door on the right before you enter UMC.

Stairway resurfacing
Beginning early Monday morning facilities staff will begin resurfacing the exterior stairway entrance to the library. They will be applying a non-skid surface. They expect the project to take a week to complete. We will be posting signs.
